ABOUT DOUGLAS ADAMSON
I am not a trained “theologian.” I am not “clergy.” I have taught at the college level but not in this field.
I came from a family that had many trained theologians but many of them held different ideas or positions on a variety of doctrinal issues. The best thing I learned from them was the unalterable position they all held: Scripture was the final authority on any issue! I saw many of them change those positions over the years as they continued to study Scripture. In the end they were more alike in what they stood for than they were different. All of them have passed on now and I look forward to seeing them in Heaven someday soon.
There is no earthly reason that you should think that MY ideas are correct BUT there is every reason to look at the evidence from Scripture that I have put forth for these various interpretations of prophecy and Scripture. If Scripture doesn’t support it, don’t accept it.
If you are a person who has known me in the past, I am as surprised as you are that God has asked me to do this project. I don't know why. Sometimes I don't want to do it but most of the time I cannot help myself. To say I am driven is an understatement. Ask my wife or others close to me.
I have 4 sons, some wonderful daughter-in-laws, 9 grandchildren, and a wife who has stood by me for 50 plus years. When my wife and I study our genealogical roots, we are amazed at the constant stream of believers we find in our past lineage. I had a wonderful mother that many believers still remember and a father that continued to write and study Scripture up until his death in 2021. It would be hard to tell his books from mine because he has the same name. The easiest way to sort us out (at least for this time in history) is to know he writes in the New Testament and I write mostly in the Old Testament. My dear sister did the artwork for the book and several good friends read the early versions and added many questions and comments along the way that were helpful to developing the current edition.
Lastly, I thank the classes I have taught from these books for having patience as we worked through the creative process for future groups of seekers and believers.
